Online Bingo, But Why?

Ever since the 16th Century people have been playing it in various guises and forms. Transported across oceans and migrated across borders, and eventually launched into cyberspace in the forms of online bingo and now free bingo, the game keeps going from strength to strength. This is true to the degree that this latest technological advancement has meant that the online version is now more popular than its predecessor. When the situation is examined, it is easy to see why.

The first reason for this is the ease with which people can access the game online. Busy schedules – particularly for those with children who are traditional bingo players – leave less and less time for hobbies and social affairs. The time taken to head down to the bingo hall, perhaps collecting friends on the way, is marginalised as a priority in order to maintain a healthy family life. By contrast, the time taken to log on to a website with which a player is already registered to enjoy a few quick games is minimal.

Also, the sheer variety of games online is staggering when compared to those in the bingo hall. Physically, it is impossible for more than one game to go on in any bingo hall at any one time. There is one hall, one set of numbers and one caller. Online, there are as many games as any provider is willing to offer. It follows that should a player not be hugely fond of a particular style of game found in their local bingo hall, they are likely to be far less enthused about playing. Weighed against the myriad of bingo games on offer in any given provider it is therefore small wonder that players are preferring to stay at home.

Likewise, the number of promotions on offer from bingo providers is at the very least generous. Sites offer joining bonuses and special games where prizes can include cars or holidays and everything in between, whereas the bingo hall is likely to offer special prizes that belong in a raffle at a fundraising coffee morning for the Women's Institute.

The final – and perhaps clinching – reason is that by playing online players enjoy the same sociability, in fact probably more so. The chat functions that are the norm on websites allow tens or hundreds of players to converse together, or in fact as many players as each game will allow. The bingo hall, however, restricts players to chatting to other players in their immediate vicinity, unless they want to shout across the hall. This makes the game much more secular, with websites having the opposite effect, opening the game up to all and sundry.

All in all, online bingo is quicker, easier, just as social and has bigger prizes. Therefore it is small wonder that increasing numbers of people are joining the online revolution.
